Ouch!

Why do I do this?  On Tuesday I did my bike ride and my legs were a bit tired so of course on Wednesday I had an eight mile tempo run to do, and  I accomplished that.

This morning I could barely walk to the bathroom.

It really wasn't my legs what were tired but my joints.  My knees were a little bit stiff but my ankles, specifically my Achilles tendons...geez.   Your tendons are supposed to be pliable.  Mine went from the flexibility of rubber bands to piano wire overnight.  So what do i do?  Well I followed my training schedule and did my weight lifting this morning and that helped loosen everything up.  I've also noticed that when I sit for an extended period like in the car for over 30 minutes, or the eternal church meetings I attend, when I stand up...well, everybody just asks, "what's wrong?" with alarmed looks on their faces.  It just takes a few strides for everything to loosen up and I quit moving like I'm eighty or something,

Why is this happening? Oh yeah, I'm aging up...

Back in the Saddle

Ok I apolgize for letting this lapse.  I have been working out and training consistently.  I developed my yearly plan and competition schedule.  It is ambitious but I look forward to it.

Today was my first day on the bike in a few weeks.  It has been bitter cold here in Texas, well below 20F at nights and not above freezing for the last week or so.  Even when it has been "warmer" its barely made the 40's and so with a wind chill created by a 20 mph ride...well its a bit frigid riding the bike.  Even with warm weather gear I won't do it.

But today it was about 63F and a delightful day to ride.  I did a quick 25 mile ride followed by a half hour run.  My legs were tired. I did not sleep well last night and it showed today.  Just not enough strength in my legs.  But i did enjoy being in the saddle.  Did not  have much strength on the hills,  of which there are plenty in Austin, but that's just a matter of saddle time.  It will come...

Ok so from now on, more updates on what I am doing!
